One local man's generous gift to Fairfield Community Schools means students will be getting scholarships for a long time.

Ernie Sailor donated $50,000 to Fairfield in honor of his late wife Maxine Sailor, who graduated from Fairfield High School.

Sailor's financial adviser, Matt Szynal of Edward Jones, said the gift will keep on giving.

"The endowment will fund ongoing scholarships for Fairfield students for as long as possible through diligent investing," Szynal said Friday, April 4.

A scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded to one senior each school year, he said.
