Elkhart Memorial wrestler Johnson commits to Indiana Tech

Tieshawn Johnson won 112 career bouts, including 41 with a fifth-place finish in the IHSAA State Finals in 2013-14.

ELKHART — Tieshawn Johnson, an Elkhart Memorial High School senior, has committed to continue his academic and wrestling careers at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne.

Johnson finished his Crimson Charger mat career with a 112-18 record. He was a three-time Elkhart Sectional, three-time Goshen Regional and two-time Northern Lakes Conference champion.

In 2013-14, team MVP and captain Johnson also earned a Fort Wayne Semistate title at 195 pounds and placed fifth at the IHSAA State Finals.

Johnson led coach Jim Iannarelli's squad in wins (41), pins (20) and takedowns (118) while helping the Chargers take a third straight sectional team title and a regional team crown.

Indiana Tech is an NAIA program. The Warriors are coached by Mike Ester.
