Concord High School awards winter sports athletes

The Minutemen recognized some of the schools wrestlers, swimmers, cheerleaders and girls basketball players.

DUNLAP — Concord High School has gathered recently to recognize its winter athletes. Wrestling, swimming, girls basketball and cheerleading were presented honors.

Boys basketball will distribute awards on April 14.

For the sports that did present MVP awards, those recipients were DeLawrence Gayfield (wrestling), Stephen Krecsmar (boys swimming), Ashley Schrock (girls swimming) and Ali Burkley (basketball cheerleading).

CONCORD AWARDS

Wrestling: MVP — DeLawrence Gayfield. Honorary Captains — DeLawerence Gayfield, Michael Rockenbaugh, Leandro Rodriguez. Mike Yoder Award — Michael Rockenbaugh. Most Improved — Josh Stover. Most Takedowns — DeLawerence Gayfield.

Boys Swimming: MVP — Stephen Krecsmar. Honorary Captain — Luke VanderVliet. All-Around — Luke VanderVliet. Brown-Mastin Mental Attitude — Andrew Hinds. Most Improved — Ryan Jackowiak.

Girls Basketball: Honorary Captains — Michelle Detwiler, Alexis Williams. Best Defensive Player — Alexis Williams. Best Offensive Player — MacKenzie Rutter. Best Free Throw Percentage — Keaonna Clopton 73.3. Mental Attitude — Nicki Wilhelm. Most Improved — Keaonna Clopton. Most Rebounds — Alexis Williams 120. Most Assists — MacKenzie Rutter 24. Most Blocks — Tylar Roberson 23.

Girls Swimming: MVP — Ashley Schrock. Honorary Captain — Kenzie Wright. All-Around — Ashley Schrock. Mental Attitude — Heather Johnson. Most Improved — Heather Johnson.

Basketball Cheerleading: MVP — Ali Burkley. Honorary Captain — Varsity: Kelly Smith ( varsity). Most Improved — Claura Jackson (JV). Most Spirited — Hannah Taylor (varsity), Zenia Araujo (JV).
