Concord High School's dance team qualifies for national competition

    Concord dancers won three first-place awards at a competition in Illinois last weekend.

    ELKHART — The dance team at Concord High School took home three first-place awards from the Tremaine Dance Competition held in Schaumburg, Ill., on Saturday night.

    They qualified to attend a national competition in Orlando, Fla., July 6-11.

    The team earned first-place in the senior hip hop line, senior open production and senior hip hop production competitions. The senior hip hop production number, “Cinterwella Yo!” earned the senior overall best showmanship award.

    Shimmy Sar, a sophomore dancer, won the Tremaine Freestyle Scholarship award, which can be used to attend the Tremaine National Workshop and Competition.
