ELKHART — Jesse Zepeda, a 2014 Elkhart Central High School graduate, has signed to continue his academic and baseball careers at Bethel College in Mishawaka.
Zepeda, an outfielder and catcher for coach Steve Stutsman's Blue Blazers, was a team MVP as a senior, hitting .315 with 20 runs batted in. As a junior, he was named as the team's "Rookie of the Year" and helped Central go 32-1 and win an IHSAA Class 4A state championship.
For his career, he collected 50 hits (four home runs) and hit .344 with 40 RBI.
"Choosing Bethel was my choice because I can see myself learning and playing there," said Zepeda. "I love the campus and am excited about the opportunity to learn."
"We are very excited to have Jesse join the Bethel baseball family," said Bethel coach Seth Zartman. "Jesse had a great career with Elkhart Central, and he will bring a lot to the team both on and off the field. It's great to have local talent on the field for the Pilots."
