MISHAWAKA — Bethel College men’s basketball has landed Ohio big man Luke Fisher for its 2015 recruiting class.

Fisher, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward/center, also was attracting interest from several Division I schools. He averaged 16 points and five rebounds as a junior last season for 18-5 Archbold High and was chosen Northwest Ohio Athletic League player of the year. He was also an all-state third-team selection.

"I chose Bethel because I want to continue their outstanding tradition and play for great mentors like Coach (Mike) Lightfoot and his staff,” Fisher said of signing with the Pilots. “Bethel was the perfect fit for me and a great place for me to continue playing basketball for the glory of God and as an act of worship.”

“Luke is a terrific fit for our school and program,” Lightfoot said. “He will set a great example at Bethel academically, athletically and spiritually while also bring much-needed size and a great skill set.”

Fisher shot 59 percent from the field last season, including 40 percent on 3s, and 78 percent at the line while helping the Bluestreaks win a second straight sectional championship and fifth straight conference title.
