Savannah Bley transfers from Taylor to Bethel

6-foot-1 post player Savannah Bley is a 2013 NorthWood High School graduate. Because of Crossroads League transfer rules, she will have to sit out the 2014-15 season.

MISHAWAKA — Savannah Bley, a 2013 NorthWood High School graduate, has transferred to Bethel College to continue her academic and basketball careers.

Bley. a 6-foot-1 post player, has left Taylor University. Because of Crossroads League transfer rule, she will have to sit out the 2014-15 season and then will have three years of eligibility.

At Taylor, Bley started six games as a freshman and averaged 4.2 points per game. She scored in double digits four times with a season-high of 16 points against St. Mary-of-the-Woods. She shot 41.7 percent from the floor.

Taylor and Bethel both went 12-19 overall and 7-11 in the Crossroads League in 2013-14.

Bethel is seeking a replacement for head coach Jody Martinez, who recently took the head coaching position at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla.
