Alyssa Hostetler and Ellie Hathaway are still Goshen High School students, but they both have artwork on display in New York City.

Both students were awarded medals in the 2014 National Scholastic Art and Writing Contest, according to a press release from Goshen Community Schools. Their artwork was recognized in Carnegie Hall over the weekend.

Their pieces will be on display in NYC for the next two years.

Hathaway created a mixed media piece entitled “Race Against Humanity” that earned a gold medal award in the national competition. The artwork was based on the idea of “nature in the unnatural and artificiality in the natural,” the press release said.

Hostetler’s acrylic painting, “Unforgotten,” was inspired by the lyrics of the song “West Coast” by Coconut Records. She was awarded a silver medal.
