West Goshen Elementary Principal Alan Metcalfe will have a new role in the 2014-15 school year.

He and Angela Piazza, principal of Calumet New Tech High School in Gary, were approved to serve as assistant superintendents for Goshen in a school board meeting Monday, June 9.

They will fill positions left by departing assistant superintendents Marceil Royer, who is retiring, and Bob Evans, who took a superintendent job at another school corporation.

Superintendent Diane Woodworth noted that West Goshen is losing a great principal in Metcalfe but those in the central office are pleased he will be joining their ranks.

She also spoke highly of Piazza, saying she will bring new ideas to the corporation.

Piazza is “a dedicated, hard-working and articulate person who is passionate about education,” Woodworth said.
