Bethel College is using a Lilly grant it received last year to partner with local businesses.

According to a statement from the school, Bethel will partner with the Kroc Center in South Bend, where Bethel staff is providing weekly management training to directors, managers and officers.

Other initiatives include a 25-week workforce readiness program designed for the unemployed/underemployed that could be offered through churches and other organizations, and a work ethic course designed to address topics such as workplace attitude, attendance and appearance, which would be offered through local companies for their employees.

Bethel's goal is to help employers in St. Joseph and Elkhart counties improve their workforce, the statement said.
