Elkhart Area Career Center students awarded for technical skills

Students pursuing careers in technical fields were recognized by SkillsUSA for their talents.

INDIANAPOLIS — Students from the Elkhart Area Career Center earned awards at the State SkillsUSA Skills and Leadership Conference in Indianapolis on March 14 and 15.

The organization works with students preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations.

First place winners will advance to the national competition in Kansas City, Mo., June 23-27.

First place winners and their categories are: Nebraska Draughter of Mishawaka High School, Career Pathways; Forrest Grahl of Edwardsburg High School, Career Pathways; Logan Williams of Memorial High School, Career Pathways; Naomi Barnard of Memorial High School, CNA/Nurse Assisting; Sarah McCraner of Northridge High School, Job Skills Demo A; Carrie Bennett of Penn High School, Medical Math; Davison Emery of Northridge High School, Motorcycle Tech; Genesis Ponce of Memorial High School, Photography; Carter Rucker of Concord High School, Plumbing; Ford Adams of Edwardsburg High School, Power Equipment; and Craig Bowman of Goshen High School, Tech Related Math.

Second place winners and their categories are: Samantha-Jo Case of Memorial High School, Advertising Design; Barbara Hahn of Jimtown High School, CNA/Nurse Assisting; Aubri Young of Mishawaka High School, Cosmetology; Haley Moren of Bremen High School, Dental; Ben Largent of Penn High School, Marine; Kyle Albert of Mishawaka High School, Motorcycle Tech; Lane Gortney of Elkhart Christian, Power Equipment; and Matthew Magliola of Penn High School, Technical Drafting.

Third place winners and their categories are: Jaylynn Stutsman of Northridge High School, CNA/Nurse Assisting; Yoseline Navarrete of Memorial High School, CSI; Bridgett Vazquez of Memorial High School, CSI; Paige Weldy of Memorial High School, CSI; Iliana Fernandez of Bremen High School, Dental; Nathaniel Wheeler of Central High School, Firefighting; Tyler Koeppel of Concord High School, Job Skills Demo A; Lily Schlatter of Northridge High School, Medical Term; Austin McCreary of LIFE Program, Motorcycle Tech; Cory Guerra of Memorial High School, Plumbing; Steven Page of Goshen High School, Robotics; and Annalie Walter of Elkhart Christian, Robotics.
