Area college students honored for academic honors, other achievements

WHITTIER, Calif. — Andy Hansen of Bristol, Ind., was named to the dean’s list for the 2013 fall semester at Whittier College.

Students named to the dean’s list must achieve a minimum 3.7 GPA while maintaining a full-time 12-credit-hour course load.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Amanda Schoeffler of Elkhart, Ind., was named to the 2013 fall semester dean’s list at Ohio State University.

To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn at least a 3.5 GPA and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester credit hours.

GOSHEN — The following students were named to the dean’s list for the 2013 fall semester at Goshen College.

Students on the dean’s list have earned a minimum 3.75 GPA while enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.

BLUFFTON, Ohio — Bluffton University recently named students to the 2013 fall semester dean’s list.

Monica Eshleman of Middlebury, Ind., was named to the dean’s list for achieving a 3.6 GPA. Ryan Gingrich of Elkhart, Ind., and Abigail Graber of Goshen, Ind., received distinction for high achievement on the dean’s list for achieving a minimum 3.75 GPA and completing at least 20 semester credit hours.

The university also announced that Aaron Johnson of Goshen performed in the Ohio Private College Instrumental Conductors Association band Feb. 2.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Anna Pladson of Middlebury, Ind., a freshman in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, was named to the dean’s list for the 2013 fall semester.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.66 GPA and maintain a 12-credit-hour semester.

HUNTINGTON — Matt Nelson of Granger, a senior animation major at Huntington University, received gold in the offsite, display design category for his project "Showcase Poster" and silver in the nonprofit advertising category for his project "Parallel Lives" at the Fort Wayne Ad Federation Awards on Saturday, Feb. 15.

The competition is a national award program created for college students. Each entry is judged on creativity, originality and creative strategy of the project.
