Elkhart County snow totals varied widely; Elkhart revised up to 13 inches

On Monday, I was told via WNDU that the National Weather Service reported Elkhart had received nine inches of snow from the weekend snow storm, which raised a few eyebrows from colleagues in The Truth newsroom. Some thought the total was closer to a foot of snow.

I had also been told the total accumulations varied widely in many parts of north central Indiana, which the map above points out. As you can see, the weather service map shows snow totals were more complicated in Elkhart County than surrounding areas.

Ultimately, though, the weather service issued a snowfall accumulation list for totals through Tuesday and Elkhart, was revised to 13 inches.

You can see the weather service's full recap here, including a detailed list of snowfall totals here.
