Delay in primary election results caused by missing memory card

Final votes remained unknown as recently at 10 p.m.

One memory card carrying a possible 155 votes is delaying the tally of final results in Elkhart County's primary election.

Around 9 p.m. election board officials at the county administration building in Goshen said a memory card was left behind at the North Side voting center.

As of 10 p.m. the card was still being recovered from North Side school.

Some candidates can already assume they've won because they lead by a large majority, but other races — like the Concord school referendum — are still up in the air.

Chris Anderson, chief deputy clerk for Elkhart County, is retrieving the missing memory card from North Side.

Clerk Wendy Hudson said the card was simply overlooked by the poll worker supervisor at that location. Twelve cards were in voting machines there, but just 11 were brought back when the center closed.
