GOSHEN — The last day to register to vote in Elkhart County for this spring’s primary election is less than three weeks away.
Registration applications must be received in person by the end of the business day April 7 at the county’s voter registration office, 117 N. Second St. in Goshen. Voters registering by mail must have applications postmarked on or before April 7. The primary election will be May 6.
Voter registration forms and instructions for submitting them are available at the clerk’s office and on the Indiana Secretary of State’s website at sos.in.gov. Some government offices, including the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, also have applications available.
Online registration is available at indianavoters.com. There, voters can check their registration status and view a list of candidates appearing on May’s ballot.
Out-of-state residents can check their registration and voting information by using a new online resource from the National Association of Secretaries of State, canivote.org. The website allows out-of-state voters to locate their polling places, research registration deadlines in their home states and more.
The Elkhart County Election Board encourages local voters to make sure their registration information is accurate and up to date.
The election board is mailing information about the county’s transition to vote centers. All voters will be notified by the end of April.
For more information, call the voter registration office 535-6775 or 535-6774, the county clerk’s office at 535-6469 or the Hoosier Voter Hotline at (866) 461-8683.
