SOUTH BEND — South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is endorsing fellow Democrat Joe Bock in Bock's bid for the 2nd District seat in the U.S. House.

Washington "is in crisis," Buttigieg said in a statement released by the Bock campaign, and Bock's "record of stepping up in times of crisis to solve problems is a welcome contrast to this obstructionist Congress."

Buttigieg went on: "Whether working to create jobs and economic security for the middle class, ensuring quality education in our schools or eliminating violence in our cities, Joe is the candidate who will roll up his sleeves and serve us with conviction and compassion."

Bock, of South Bend, is an administrator and instructor at the University of Notre Dame. He's seeking to unseat incumbent Rep. Jackie Walorski, a Republican. Two other Democrats are also vying for the House post, which covers several north central Indiana counties, including Elkhart and St. Joseph counties.
