Authorities: Woman, 58, dies after being hit by vehicle while walking to Saginaw County store

CHESANING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a 58-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle while walking from her home to a store in Saginaw County.

The Saginaw News reports (http://bit.ly/1sJm7bK ) the sheriff’s department was dispatched shortly before midnight Friday and the woman was dead at the scene in Chesaning Township, about 75 miles northwest of Detroit. Her name wasn’t immediately released.

Authorities say the woman was in the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old boy. He had what were described as minor injuries.

The death is under investigation.
