GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say postal inspectors in western Michigan found a stuffed animal that was stuffed with nearly $16,000 in cash instead of fluff.

The Grand Rapids Press reports (http://bit.ly/1nIx2Cv ) inspectors in Grand Rapids spotted a suspicious looking box bound for an address in Phoenix in February. Search warrant records say they decided to open it after a drug-sniffing dog “alerted” on the package.

According to investigators, the stuffed animal was unusually heavy. Inspectors cut open the stuffed animal and found $15,900 in cash.

Police investigated and later raided an area home, where they confiscated bags of money totaling nearly $17,000, marijuana and scales.
