Vegan tastefest and expo to be held in Novi

Actress Daryl Hannah to appear at VegFest 2014, a vegan tastefest and expo in suburban Detroit

NOVI, Mich. (AP) — A vegan tastefest and expo is to be held at a Detroit-area conference center.

VegFest 2014 is set for Sunday at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

The event is expected to have 150 exhibitors showing off vegan specialty foods, eco-friendly products, books, art pieces and more. A food court is to feature vegan offerings from restaurants, bakeries, caterers and food companies.

Presenters are to include actress Daryl Hannah, former NBA player John Salley and cardiologist Joel Kahn.

VegFest is presented by VegMichigan, a nonprofit organization that promotes awareness of the health and environmental benefits of a plant-based diet.

The cost to attend the six-plus-hour event is $10 at the door. VegMichigan members get in free.
