A first-year medical student at the Western Michigan University School of Medicine has been missing since Thursday, Dec. 5, reports The Elkhart Truth's news partner WNDU.

Teleka Patrick, 30, was last seen on Dec. 5 after spending the evening in downtown Kalamazoo, reports WOOD-TV.

She was first reported missing when she didn't show up for work Friday, Dec. 6, and her car was found the same day in Portage -- more than 100 miles from Kalamazoo down Interstate 94. Authorities noted Patrick's purse was not in the vehicle but some of her other belongings were still there. A motel clerk in Portage also reported seeing Patrick after she asked for directions, WNDU reported.

Patrick's family has traveled to Kalamazoo from New York, Massachusetts and Florida to search for the woman and a Facebook page has been set up to get the word out about her disappearance.
