INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis police say a man has been charged with murder in the death of his wife.

Lt. Chris Bailey says officers found 47-year-old Rebecca Degrafreed was found dead from head trauma Sunday morning on the floor of her bedroom in a home on the city’s northeast side.

Bailey says others inside the home had heard a commotion coming from the bedroom before 50-year-old Tony Degrafreed came out of the bedroom and stabbed the woman’s son, 19-year-old Jordan Yarbro, in the chest, inflicting minor injuries.

Bailey says a struggle ensued and Degafreed fled on foot but was apprehended nearby. He faces a preliminary charge of murder.

Detectives have not released a motive in the slaying.
