INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Fire Department says a house fire has killed two elderly siblings and hospitalized a third relative.

Capt. Rita Reith (ryt) says 82-year-old Henderson Clayton Wyrick and 72-year-old Bettie Bradley both died Sunday from injuries sustained the night before on the city’s south side.

She says Bradley’s 51-year-old son was hospitalized in good condition.

Reith says the two men were outside the home when firefighters arrived on the scene Saturday night and the woman was found inside the home filled with heavy smoke.

Neighbor Duane Unersaw tells The Indianapolis Star both the woman and her brother used wheelchairs

Family members told firefighters that unattended smoking materials may have started the fire.

Firefighters estimated damage to the home at $225,000.
