ELWOOD, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say the death of a 66-year-old central Indiana woman is suspicious.

Elwood police said Linda Speer was found dead Tuesday night by a daughter who went to check on her.

Madison County Corner Marian Dunnichay says “the death is suspicious” but hasn’t released a cause of the death, She says an autopsy was planned for Wednesday.

Neighbors say Speer lived alone and had lived in their Elwood neighborhood for decades. Judy Shaw says the neighborhood doesn’t have a lot of crime and that Speer didn’t have any enemies that she knew of. She tells The (Anderson) Herald Bulletin the woman was very trusting and sweet.

Elwood is about 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
