The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will cease much of its roadwork over the weekend to increase mobility and safety for holiday travelers.

A moratorium on road work will start at noon Thursday, July 3, and last through the morning hours of Monday, July 7, according to a Facebook post by INDOT Northeast.

Contractors have been instructed to pull back barricades and barrels to the safest extent possible, according to the post.

Some restrictions will remain in place for larger road projects.
