INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana has created seven regional centers intended to advance educational opportunities for migrant students.

The Indiana Department of Education says its goal is to successfully identify and serve the state’s entire migrant population.

The department says its Office of Migrant Education has used unclaimed federal funds from 2012 and worked with migrant education experts and the business community to create the new centers. Each student will be provided with a computer device such as a tablet or laptop computer.

In addition to serving migrant students, the centers will provide professional development for teachers and administrators.

The centers are located in South Bend, West Lafayette, Berne, Alexandria, Connersville, Columbus and Jasper.
