One pedestrian killed, one injured in Cassopolis Street crash Monday night

One pedestrian was killed and another was injured Monday evening when the pair was struck by a car in the 2900 block of Cassopolis Street.

One person died after being struck by a car on Cassopolis Street Monday night.

Police and medics were called to the 2900 block of Cassopolis Street at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, for report of a car that had struck a pedestrian.

Emergency crews found that two pedestrians had been struck by one vehicle, according to a news release from the Elkhart Police Department.

One of the pedestrians was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where they died from their injuries.

Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, according to the news release.

The names of the victims and driver have not been released.
