Dogs rescued from house fire in South Bend

Firefighters rescued a family’s dogs from a home that caught fire Tuesday while the owners were away.

Several dogs were rescued from a South Bend house fire while their owners were away Tuesday, Aug. 26.

A neighbor saw smoke coming from the house in the 600 block of South 28th Street Tuesday morning and called 911, according to a report from the Elkhart Truth’s reporting partner, WNDU.

At least two dogs were removed from the house and placed in a cage outside while firefighters continued to to fight the fire.
