Residents should be sure to lock their car doors after a string of recent robberies in Osolo Township, according to deputies from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
On Monday night, Aug. 18, three homes were burglarized at homes on C.R. 15 between C.R. 10 and C.R. 6 in Osolo Township, according to an alert from police.
The thieves were able to get inside by using garage door openers located in unlocked vehicles at each residence. Cordless drills were stolen from two separate homes, along with the garage remotes.
Police suspect the incidents could be linked to an unsuccessful robbery that happened in a subdivision on the west side of Jefferson Township around 6:15 a.m, Thursday Aug. 14.
The suspect in that incident was described as a 6-foot-tall white man with short brown hair, weighing about 180 lbs. The suspect was reportedly wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt and shorts.
The sheriff’s department is considering the incidents to be connected unless new information suggests otherwise.
Those with information about the events are asked to contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
