Elkhart motorcyclist injured in Thursday morning accident

    Johntu Reed, 28, was sent to Elkhart General Hospital with leg pain after his motorcycle struck a vehicle on Toledo Road.

    An Elkhart motorcyclist was sent to the hospital after he crashed into a van Thursday morning, Aug. 21, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

    Around 11:05 a.m., Johntu Reed, 28, was traveling east on Toledo Road approaching Outer Drive on a motorcycle.

    Reed attempted to pass Harold Curtis, 80, of Elkhart, who was traveling the same direction in a van. Reed’s motorcycle struck the van as Curtis attempted to turn north onto Outer Drive, according to the release.

    Reed was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for leg pain and issued a warning for improper passing.

    Curtis was not injured in the accident.
