Wakarusa man arrested after police find drugs during domestic dispute

WAKARUSA — A Wakarusa man was arrested Friday on numerous drug-related charges after police were called to his home for an unrelated incident.

Anthony W. Landis, 45, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, neglect of a dependent, pointing a loaded firearm and intimidation with a deadly weapon, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the 28000 block of C.R. 38 at 8:48 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15. for a report of a domestic disturbance, according to a police report.

While at the residence, officers saw drugs in plain sight and obtained a search warrant for the rest of the home.

Officers also said the residence was unsafe for children and two children were in the home.

Further information about the children was not immediately available.

As of Monday morning, Aug. 18, Landis was still incarcerated at the Elkhart County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
