SOUTH BEND — A 42-year-old woman was charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection to the death of a man whose body was found in a South Bend motel, as reported by The Elkhart Truth’s news partner WNDU.

Teri Rigley stabbed Edward Pierce at the Shirley Motel at 6013 U.S. 31, according to the South Bend Police Department.

Officers were conducting a welfare check on Pierce on Tuesday, Aug. 12, when they found his body in the guest room. Pierce had lived in the room for five years, according to court documents. Rigley denied being at the scene, but surveillance footage shows that she was there.
