Six people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening in Cass County.

Erika Kanczuzewski, 46, of Niles was driving westbound on Redfeild Street in Milton Township when another vehicle driving southbound on Gumwood Street turned in front of her and the vehicles collided, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

Kanczuzewski and her two children, 13-year-old David and 8-year-old Ava, were taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the other vehicle, 23-year-old Stephen Armet of Granger, and one of his passengers, Christopher Pavnica, 23, were taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for Treatment.

Another passenger in Armet’s vehicle, 21-year-old Evan Armet, was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Seatbelts were used and police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash because of a statement Stephen Armet made to police, said Undersheriff Richard Behnke.

No citations have been issued in connection to the crash.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating, according to the news release.
