Hit-and-run crash in Bristol sends teenager to hospital

An Elkhart teenager was airlifted Memorial Hospital in South Bend Saturday night, Aug. 9, after she was struck by an unknown vehicle while she was riding a moped near Bristol.

Tiffany Burchard, 17, suffered facial fractures and a broken left leg in the crash, according to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department

Burchard was riding a moped on S.R. 120 west of C.R. 131 around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when she was rear-ended by an unknown vehicle, the press release stated. The vehicle did not stop.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
