ALBION, Ind. (AP) — Police say officers have arrested a man who they believe tried to run over a state trooper in northeastern Indiana.

State police Sgt. Ron Galaviz says 23-year-old Anthony McClellan of Churubusco was arrested Tuesday night after several people reported the location of a man matching the description of one who police spent four hours searching for earlier that day.

Galaviz says the search began after a battery suspect who a trooper was following near Big Lake, about 20 miles northwest of Fort Wayne, drove onto a dead-end street and then tried to run over the trooper. The trooper shot at the car, but neither person was hurt.

McClellan’s being held without bond in the Noble County Jail on unrelated arrest warrants. Jail records don’t indicate whether he has an attorney.
