Elkhart County Sheriff's Department asking for assistance in finding runaway

The 15-year-old was spotted in a car but later fled on foot, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

ELKHART — Police are looking for a boy who has been reported as a runaway, according to a release form the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

Police saw the 15-year-old in a silver Chevy Impala around C.R. 18 and C.R. 1 around 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, and tried to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle, which has been reported stolen to the Elkhart Police Department, struck a southbound vehicle at C.R. 1. The driver of the southbound vehicle refused medical treatment.

The vehicle entered a cornfield on C.R. 1 south of C.R. 22; the male then fled on foot.

He has not been found. The incident is still under investigation, according to the release.
