Man airlifted after moped crash in Kosciusko County

The man was in critical condition, but is now listed in stable condition. He was not wearing a helmet.

A Warsaw man suffered a severe head injury in a moped crash Friday evening, Aug. 1, a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department said.

Shannon Hursey, 38, was going south on S.R. 25, just south of C.R. 250 South, when he struck the guardrail on the road’s western side. Police responded to the incident around 5:15 p.m., and Hursey was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was originally listed in critical condition.

Hursey is now in stable condition, the news release said. 

When the crash occurred, Hursey was not wearing a helmet, the news release said. The incident remains under investigation.
