Elkhart County Sheriff's Department investigates dispute involving shotgun

Shots were fired during a dispute Friday afternoon, Aug. 1, in an attempt to keep two pedestrians away from a residence. Neither or them were injured during the incident.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to a dispute Friday afternoon, Aug. 1, in which a shotgun was fired from a residence in an attempt to keep two people off the property.

A 26 year old and a 28 year old were walking in the 21000 block of C.R. 45 in Elkhart when a dispute occurred and shots were fired from a residence, a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department said. A 78-year-old man has been named a known suspect in connection with the incident. 

Neither of the pedestrians were injured during the dispute or when the gun was fired. Detectives with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the incident.
