Goshen and Nappanee are among Indiana’s top 50 safest cities with populations of 5,000 or more, according to SafeWise.
The company, which offers advice on home security and safety, ranked Nappanee and Goshen 25th and 45th on the list, respectively.
The company created the list by pairing its own research with FBI crime report data from 2012.
Their data found that for every 1,000 crimes that occurred in Nappanee, 0.59 were violent and 24.43 involved property.
For every 1,000 crimes that occurred in Goshen, 1.46 were violent and 35.68 involved property.
The numbers were calculated by analyzing the number of violent crimes that included aggravated assault, forcible rape, murder and robbery, along with property crimes including arson, burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft.
The top five cities to make the list are Zionsville, Bargersville, Decatur, Carmel and Westville.
