A Boy Scout working on his Eagle Scout project found several potted marijuana plants in a Goshen park Monday morning.

Will Kercher from Boy Scout Troop 5 was working to remove invasive plant species from Abshire Park, 1302 E Lincoln Ave., on Monday, July 28, when he spotted four potted plants, the Goshen News reports

“I was heading out there and noticed these plants. There were three little ones and one big pot all sprouted out. I thought it might be marijuana and if it was, I didn’t need to be there,” Kercher told the Goshen News. “I took a picture and went and found Aaron (Sawatsky-Kingsley, Goshen’s city forester). I showed him the picture and he called police.”

Sawatsky-Kingsley said he had checked the area where Kercher was going to be working several weeks ago and the marijuana plants could have been planted any time in the last two weeks.

Goshen Police officers came to the scene and took the plants to be processed into evidence, the Goshen News reported.
