Police seek help to ID New Paris robbery suspect

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man accused of robbing a New Paris gas station on Saturday, July 19.

NEW PARIS — Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect in a weekend armed robbery in New Paris.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department was called to Red D Mart, 68310 S.R. 15, at 9:12 a.m. Saturday, July 19, where a gas station attendant reported that a man had entered the store with a hunting-style rifle and demanded money.

The attendant was able to escape the store unharmed and the suspect ran eastbound toward the train tracks behind the gas station, according to a sheriff’s department news release.

The suspect is a white man approximately 18 to 20 years old, 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.
