One injured, suspect arrested in Cass County stabbing

    A Dowagiac man was treated and released from the hospital after he was stabbed twice.

    One person is in police custody after a stabbing early Sunday morning in Cass County, Mich.

    Officers from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department were called to the 60000 block of Main Street in Vandalia at 12:04 a.m. Sunday, July 20, for a report of a stabbing, according to a sheriff’s department news release.

    The victim, 46-year-old Mark Perkins of Dowagiac, Mich., told police he had been in a verbal altercation with the suspect when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed Perkins twice.

    Perkins was treated for his injuries and released from Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.

    Police arrested the suspect and are withholding his name until he is arraigned.
