A motorcyclist was killed Sunday morning, July 20, after being involved in a crash with another vehicle.
A silver sedan and a motorcycle crashed on Old U.S. 20 between C.R. 13 and C.R. 15 around 10:45 a.m., a dispatcher with the Elkhart County 911 Center confirmed.
Brothers Dallas and Dana Alter of Osceola were driving scooters westbound on Old U.S. 20 just in front of the sedan, they said.
Dallas Alter said the motorcyclist was driving eastbound in the wrong side of the center line at about 80 or 90 mph and struck the sedan, which was going about 30 mph.
The motorcyclist, identified by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department as 42-year-old Jason Espinoza of Elkhart, was killed instantly, said Dallas Alter, who is a trained medic. The driver of the sedan, 22-year-old Miranda Rosezelle of Elkhart, suffered minor scrapes.
Espinoza was not wearing a helmet, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
The Elkhart County Crash Investigation Team is still investigating the incident.
