The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating a house fire that left two people dead early Saturday, July 19, The Elkhart Truth’s news partner WNDU reported.

Fire crews responded to reports of a house fire at about 5:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Kenwood Avenue, The South Bend Tribune reported.

The victims were identified as George D. Bailey, 55, of South Bend, and Angela Williams, 43, of South Bend, according to WNDU.

One of the fire victims was pronounced dead inside the house. A second fire victim was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend and was later pronounced dead.
