Two injured in separate Elkhart shootings last weekend

Two men were taken to Elkhart General Hospital over the weekend with non-life-threatening injuries from two different shootings.

The Elkhart Police Department is investigating two weekend shootings near downtown Elkhart.

Police were dispatched to Elkhart General Hospital shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, July 12, after a 19-year-old man arrived at the hospital with an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators believe the shooting happened near the intersection of Middlebury and Prairie streets but do not know the exact location of the incident.

The second shooting happened around 8 p.m. Sunday, July 13, in the 300 block of West Wagner Avenue. 

One resident said she called police after two bullets went through the window of her apartment.

Witnesses said the victim, a 27-year-old man, was taken to the hospital from the 300 block of West Indiana Avenue.
