Motorcyclist in critical condition after crash on C.R. 6 in Elkhart Sunday

Police say the motorcyclist crashed into a stopped car after speeding and was ejected from the the motorcycle.

An Elkhart man is in critical condition after he suffered serious injuries in a crash on C.R. 6 in Elkhart Sunday night, July 13.

Michael Nunez, 33, is listed in critical condition at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday morning, July 14.

Nunez was driving west on C.R. 6 near C.R. 15 when he crashed into the back of another vehicle that was stopped at a red light, a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department stated. Nunez was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Memorial Hospital to be treated for his “serious injuries.”

The other vehicle involved in the crash was not harmed and Nunez was the only person injured. 

Prior to the crash, a nearby sheriff’s deputy noticed that Nunez was speeding and clocked him going 97 mph in a 45 mph zone, the press release stated. The crash occurred before the deputy was able to pull Nunez over.
