Elkhart man dies in motorcycle accident

A 32-year-old Elkhart man died Sunday after his motorcycle went off the road and struck a utility pole.

Billy Joe Johnson, of Elkhart, was traveling southwest on C.R. 22 just south of C.R. 28, at about 1:12 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The road curved right, but Johnson continued on and went off the left side of the road. He died from fatal injuries to the head.

The Elkhart County Crash Investigation Team is investigating.
