The search continues for a South Bend woman who went missing in the St. Joseph River early Tuesday, July 8.
At around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, police and fire crews responded to reports of a woman calling for help near South Bend’s Colfax Street Bridge.
The cries were apparently from Yolanda Anderson, 25, who was walking along the river with friends and family when she entered the water for an unknown reason, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
On Wednesday, July 9, Indiana Conservation crews continued their search using sonar to search the river bottom, according to Jonathan Boyd, officer for Indiana Conservation.
We’ll continue to update this story as it develops.
