Shooting suspect sought after Saturday incident in Elkhart

Elkhart police are looking for a group of five or six people who shot a man Saturday in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

ELKHART — The Elkhart Police Department is looking for several suspects in connection with a Saturday night shooting.

Police and medics were called to the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, June 28, for a report of a shooting.

The victim, a 23-year-old Elkhart man, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with a gunshot wound to his thigh, said Elkhart Police Assistant Chief Laura Koch.

The victim told police he had been in the area when he was approached by a group of five or six black males who shot him once in the leg.

No suspects are in custody as of Tuesday morning, July 1, Koch said.
