Man grazed by stray bullet during cookout in Granger
Police are asking the public’s help as they investigate a shooting that happened Saturday evening, June 14, in northwestern Elkhart County and left one person with a minor injury.
The shooting happened at about 5:50 p.m. The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department was initially called to the 51000 block of Meadow Pointe, in Cleveland Township west of C.R. 1 and north of the Toll Road.
Several people were gathered at a house along Meadow Pointe for a cookout when the shooting happened. One of the guests was grazed by a bullet, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.
The victim’s wound was not life-threatening and did not require immediate medical care. Officers who initially responded to Meadow Pointe conducted an initial investigation, which led them to a property on C.R. 1 as the place where the shots originated.
