Elkhart woman in stable condition after crash on C.R. 10

Mandy Purvis, 27, was taken to the hospital Thursday with a head injury after her vehicle struck another car, a sign and a tree.

ELKHART — An Elkhart woman who was injured in a car accident Thursday is in stable condition, according to a nurse at Memorial Hospital.

Mandy Purvis, 27, was driving southeast on C.R. 10 Thursday night, June 12, when her vehicle veered into the other lane and struck a car. Her vehicle kept going, driving off the road and crashing into a sign and a tree.

She was taken to Memorial Hospital for a head injury. The driver of the other vehicle, Derek Sims, 28, of Elkhart, was not injured.

Purvis is being investigated for driving while intoxicated, according to a news release issued after the accident.
